The quieter moments of the season offer a perfect backdrop for introspection. Spending time alone or in peaceful environments allows you to contemplate personal growth, relationships, and life goals. Journaling thoughts and feelings during this time can clarify your aspirations and desires for the future.

We are in dire need to repopulate our life with meaningfull rituals, whether it is at personal level or at family or community level.

Far from being solely a shopping frenzy, Chrismas always had deep meanings for humanity :

Winter Solstice: Many Christmas traditions have roots in pre-Christian winter solstice celebrations, which marked the return of longer days and the end of winter. Renewal and Rebirth: The winter solstice, which typically occurs around December 21 or 22, symbolizes the return of light as the days begin to lengthen again.

Ancient cultures, such as the Romans (with Saturnalia) and the Norse (with Yule), celebrated this time with feasting, merriment, and a sense of renewal.

Let’s take inspiration in these anciens rituals, why not try to celebrate Chrismas in a different fashion this year ?

Celebration of Yule:

Yule, derived from ancient Norse and Germanic traditions, is celebrated with feasts, the burning of the Yule log, and the decorating of evergreen trees.

Evergreens like holly, ivy, and mistletoe symbolize endurance and the promise of life during the cold winter months.

The Yule log is often burned as a symbol of the returning light, and its ashes can be kept for good luck.

While meditate on our goals for the next year to come, let’s burn a little piece of wood this year, and keep the ashes in a little sealed glass bottle as a meaningful luck charm.

Roman Celebration of Saturnalia

Festive Celebration of Saturnalia, held in mid-December, was a time of revelry honoring the god Saturn. It included feasting, merrymaking, gift-giving, and a temporary reversal of social roles, allowing slaves to enjoy festivities alongside their masters.

Public Feasts and Games: The community would come together for games and banquets, emphasizing joy and community spirit. This mark the importance of feasting together to deepen our community bonds
